Beverly Falk is Professor and Head of the Graduate Programs in Early
Childhood Education at The School of Education, The City College of the
City University of New York. Prior to her work at City College, she
served in a variety of other educational roles - teacher,
administrator, researcher, and consultant - at the school, district,
state, and national level. Currently, she is the Editor of The New Educator, the quarterly journal published by Taylor and Francis in
collaboration with The City College of New York's School of Education.

Dr. Falk was recently selected to be a Fellow of the Carnegie
Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching
. She is the author of
numerous publications and books. These include The Power of Questions:
A Guide to Teacher and Student Research
(Heinemann, 2005); The Heart
of the Matter: Using Standards and Assessments to Learn
(Heinemann,
2000); A Teacher’s Guide to Standardized Testing: Knowledge is Power
co-authored with Lucy Calkins and colleagues
(Heinemann, 1998); and
Authentic Assessment in Action, co-authored with Linda Darling-Hammond
and Jacqueline Ancess (Teachers College Press, 1995).
