Dr. B. Schellenberg, Mathematics Department
New York, September 2002
Dear Parent or Guardian,
I want to introduce myself through this letter: it is my pleasure to teach Mathematics to your child. I am confident that your child will learn many new concepts, will make tremendous progress in his or her knowledge and understanding of Mathematics, and will develop the Math skills necessary to succeed later in life and to pass the state tests.
As parent or guardian, you can make an enormous difference. For example, you can ask to see the homework and the notebook every day. With your support and encouragement, your child will make the necessary effort and be serious about his or her studies.
Together with this letter, your child will give you our “contract”. Please read it, sign it and have it returned to me.
If you have concerns about the progress of your child, I strongly encourage you to contact me. Please call the school at (212) 927-1922 and ask for the Guidance Department to make an appointment.
I am very much looking forward to working with your child, and to keeping in touch with you.
Sincerely,
Bjorn Schellenberg
