Membership

Society activities, in established Columbia School tradition, are open to anyone interested in learning and participating.  The Society seeks to sustain scholarly activities that grew up under Diver's professorship, and it recognizes that the work of the school has grown and matured to the point where new projects may be entertained.  The Society provides a formal organizational base for these projects, and it can at times offer financial support when other means are insufficient.

By joining the Society, members affirm their commitment to the continuation of established Columbia-School activities as well as to its growth and development.  The Society offers a vehicle for concerned members to actively contribute to these goals in a substantive way by participation in committees dedicated to the Society's projects.

Membership in the Society is open to all scholars interested in the work of the Society and who share its goals.   Membership is for the calendar year.

Governance

The work of the Society is overseen by a five-member Executive Committee elected by the membership for a three-year term.  The Executive Committee establishes various other committees to promote the goals of the Society.  Three which are already functioning are a bylaws committee, a web site committee, and an Institute committee; also planned are a committee for publications and a committee for the establishment of a resource center.  Current officers of the Society, elected March 2009, are:

President

Radmila Gorup

Columbia University

Vice President for Finances

Betsy Rodríguez-Bachiller

Kean University

VP for Minutes and Records

Alan Huffman

City University of New York

VP for Communications

Joseph Davis

VP for Activities and Membership

As ex-officio members of the Society, the executors of Professor Diver's academic estate, Ellen Contini-Morava and Yishai Tobin, have graciously made his papers and electronic files available for Society projects.
