Noise

Welcome to the Noise website!

Sound surrounds us all the time.  You may awaken in the morning to the sound of an alarm clock or to Dad snoring.  During the day you may hear the noise of auto traffic or the hustle and bustle of city life.  But all sounds have one thing in common. They are formed by the vibration, or back and forth movement , of an object.

Noise is  the word we use to describe sounds we don't want to hear.  Noise comes from the Latin word "nausea", meaning seasickness.  Noise can have harmful effects upon human health and well-being.  Problems related to noise include hearing loss, stress, high blood pressure, sleep loss, and an inability to concentrate.
